HOW GOD SPEAKS TO US

Psalm 19:1-14

We are living in a vast communication age.

· Computer

· Website

· E-Mail

· Instant Message

Well, God has a way of communication to us also. If I want to have a relationship with God, then I need to know how he communicates with me.

Communicate means to give information or news b speaking or writing, So, God is actively speaking and talking to His people every day.

How does he speak? God speaks to us what theologians call natural or general revelation and He speaks to us through special or specific revelation. “General” revelation is when God reveals Himself through nature or creation. “Special revelation is when God speaks to us through His inspired word, the Bible.

“Revelation” is communication from God, telling us we are here by divine design.

I.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH THE CREATION

v. 1-6

(It is a general revelation)

A. God’s revelation of Himself in creation is unmistakable.

Notice what the Psalmist said in v. 1, “The heavens declare the glory of God:” the word “declare” means, to announce, to proclaim, to make known openly.

B. God’s revelation of Himself in creation is unceasing. It is an uninterrupted, continuous message v. 2. Every day, is the sun, the clouds, and the clear sky testify of God.

C. God’s revelation of Himself in creation is unspoken v. 3 even though creation does not speak audible, where you can hear words that can be heard, but the sky shouts out the message of God’s existence to all nations.

D. God’s revelation of Himself in creation is universal v.4a-b. It has a universal message, one that reaches every human being. Every single day God is speaking to s through His glorious creation.

II.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH THE WORD

v. 7-10

(It is a special revelation)

God speaks to us in general ways through creation. “General” revelation reveals a God who reveals. Special revelation reveals Hid will and purpose for our lives. We have a God who wants to have a relationship with us.

A. God’s law is perfect: it is the source of conversion (salvation) v. 7.

B. God’s testimony is trustworthy: it the source of wisdom. God’s word makes us wise concerning salvation and successful living.

C. God statutes (written laws) are right: they bring joy to the heart.

D. God commands are pure:

1. The give light to life.

2. They stir fear of the LORD that is pure & that lasts forever.

E. God’s judgment or laws are true & fair (righteous, just).

1. They are more precious than pure gold.

2. They are sweeter than pure honey.

Through the Word of God, we are born again, and we are completely equipped for every need of this life and for eternity.

God’s word is alive and powerful. It is inspired. What does this mean? It means that it has been breathed by God, given to us through His Holy Spirit. It is not just a book; it is God’s book.

If we obey God’s word, we will prosper in our relationships.

III.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH THE CONSCIENCE (OUR SOULS)

v.11-14

(Go from seeing, to hearing, then to the heart)

A. The Scriptures:

1. Warn those who hear the Word.

2. Rewards those who hear & obey the Word.

B. The person who reads God’s Word.

1. Cry out for forgiveness.

2. Cry out for the protective power of God----the power to live a new life.

a. To avoid presumptuous (deliberate) sin.

b. To be blameless.

3. Cry out for help in pleasing God.

a. Pleasing Him with our words & thoughts (meditation).

b. Pleasing Him because he is our Tock, Redeemer.
