THE FIGHT OF OUR LIVES

Ephesians 6:10

Introduction: Now you are on the grow.

1. Some have made new commitments to Christ.

2. Some have rebuilt altars once broken down.

3. Devotional life for some has been revived.

4. The marks of maturity are starting to show up.

Someone does not like it.

1. You have an enemy who frowns on your spiritual progress.

2. The purpose is to hinder you on your road to higher ground.

I.

THE ADVERSARY

v. 10-18

A. The text reveals a determined enemy.

1. Be strong.

2. Put on the whole armor of God.

3. Wrestling.

B. The reality of Satan's existence.

1. The Bible speaks of him again and again.

2. His purpose is your destruction.

3. He operates as an angel of light (2 Cor. 11:14).

4. He goes about the earth as a roaring lion (2 Peter 5:8).

5. He will someday have a political representative (Antichrist).

C. There is a spiritual battle raging constantly.

D. Every Christian has enlisted to oppose the enemy.

II.

THE ASSOCIATES IN THIS BATTLE

v. 10

A. "Finally, my brethren"

B. You are not in this battle alone.

1. Others have to face the same foe.

2. At salvation, you are born into this fighting fellowship.

3. Let us be sure that we fight the foe . . . not each other.

C. Let us learn to help in this battle with the adversary.

1. Is another Christian struggling with temptation?

2. Is another brother or sister discouraged?

3. Is a fellow Christian passing through difficulty?

D. You are a pilgrim. . . but not the only pilgrim.

E. Rush to the aid of those in conflict

a. Quickly to your knees in prayer

b. Words of encouragement to those in need

THE AVAILABLE RESOURCES IN THIS BATTLE

v. 10

A. "Be strong"

1. You may feel weak

2. But you can draw on God's Strength

B. "Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His Might."

C. The power of the Holy Spirit within each believer

D. The power of prayer available to all

E. The power of the Word of God

F. The power of the blood of Christ

G. The power of a conquering Savior
