THE SAVING POWER OF JESUS CHRIST

1 Timothy 1:15

The good news of the Gospel is that sinners can be saved and transformed! The apostle Paul held himself as the example of the worst of sinners who had been saved by the grace of God. If he could be saved, then anyone can be saved and transformed!

Let me begin with an example of one of those commercials whose message seems too good to be true: “Picture a man…he has a bright smile, healthful glow…he is holding up a pair of gigantic blue jeans.

He says, “These are the jeans I used to wear before I lost 200 hundred pounds on the Suddenly Slim miracle diet. It’s easy. It worked for me and it can work for you!”

“Before and after” advertisements. We’ve all seen them. Right? They peddle everything from diets to hair-growth products.

And the testimonies are always the same. “I’ve never been happier” …My wife says I’m a different person” …” The results are miraculous.”

Such product-induced alterations can hardly qualify as miracles.

Impressive? Sometimes. Long-term? Rarely.

Only the transforming touch of Jesus Christ can bring truly miraculous changes…and that is the kind that took place in the apostle Paul’s life. The Gospel reveals The Saving Power of Jesus! Let’s look at three movements!

I. THE CREDIBILITY OF THE GOSPEL (RELIABLE)

“This is a faithful saying” (This is a true message that can be trusted)

A. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

The point is this: every believer has been saved by Christ or else he

or she is not a believer.

B. Christ Jesus has now saved the chief sinner. Paul considered himself as the worst sinner. Christ will save anyone who confesses that he is a sinner and that he needs to be saved.

C. Christ Jesus save Paul as a pattern of His great mercy. The point is this: the true believer is a pattern of the Lord’s great mercy! A true believer stands as a dynamic example of God’s eternal mercy and eternal grace.

II. THE CONTENT OF THE GOSPEL (PURPOSE)

“Christ Jesus came”

a. The reason for Christ’s coming

“To save sinners”

Christ actually left the spiritual world or dimension to come into the physical world in order to save the human race.

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Lk. 19:10).

III. THE CLAIMS OF THE GOSPEL

“Worthy of all Acceptation”

The gospel is a true message that can be trusted, and the glorious message is worthy of everyone accepting it. Not a single person should reject or ignore the message.
